Robot Motion (assigned 04/09/2013)
Based on what you've learned about the different types of joints found in the human skeletal system (hinge joint, ball and socket, gliding, etc.), you are to design a moving robot that will make completing a specific physical task easier.
You will:
You MUST:
Keep in mind, the focus of this assignment is to demonstrate your understanding of the different types of joints. Keep in mind what might be the best type of motion for each part of your robot, and therefore what would be the best joint.
DUE TUESDAY APRIL 16th, 2013
You will:
- Draw AND COLOR a sketch of what your robot will look like
- Label the TYPE of joints found in your robot and EXPLAIN in 3-5 sentences why that type of joint is appropriate for that range/type of motion for that specific part/component of your robot.
- Write a paragraph (about 6-8 sentences) explaining what problem your robot addresses or what task it can complete and describing all its different components and features.
You MUST:
- Have at least 4 joints depicted
- Three of which must be different kinds of joints (for ex: can't all be ball and socket joints!)
Keep in mind, the focus of this assignment is to demonstrate your understanding of the different types of joints. Keep in mind what might be the best type of motion for each part of your robot, and therefore what would be the best joint.

Your story should explain:
Your story should be:

Recipe Conversions
Use the conversion charts below to convert AT LEAST 3 of the ingredients on your recipes to SI Units (Mass: grams; Volume: liters).
Some things to be mindful of:
Due Tuesday Sept. 11, 2012
Some things to be mindful of:
- DO NOT convert cooking temperatures, since I have not taught it to you yet.
- If you are going to use an ingredient with a fractional amount (ex: 3/4 cup of flour). Then, you will NEED to convert that fraction into a decimal number (by dividing the numerator by the denominator). For example: 3/4 cup = 0.75 cup. IN GENERAL THOUGH, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND USING WHOLE NUMBER QUANTITIES FOR YOUR CONVERSIONS.
- You MUST show your work!!! (I prefer if you use the dimensional analysis method I showed you in class today.)
- As part of showing your work, show me the flow chart of the conversions you need to make (for example: cups --> fl. oz. --> grams).

Please bring in a recipe. Your recipe should have the list of ingredients with quantities stated in the Customary system (the measurement/unit system we use in the US) . For example, it should have quantities listed in "fl. oz." or "Cups" or "Fahrenheit" etc.
